 For the convenience of passengers who have to plan their journey at the spur of the moment and cannot lock reserved accommodation, Railways offer “Tatkal” ticket booking service on payment of premium charges on ‘first come first served’ basis.

Tatkal Railway Reservation Facility

This facility is also available on the Internet at www.irctc.co.in.Tatkal bookings are allowed in all classes excluding First AC. Tatkal charges in addition to normal fare per passenger are valid in all seasons throughout the year. Tatkal tickets via internet can be booked two days in advance leaving the date of journey.

Tatkal E-tickets Reservation Rules

Tatkal e-tickets can be reserved for certain trains two days in advance. E-tickets can be booked on the opening day from 8.00 am onwards. For e.g., If the date is 11th August, 13th August will be the opening day. Ticket booking commence from 8 AM for the opening day. For journey on 11th August, 12th August ticket booking starts from 5 AM onwards.

Tatkal Seat Availability

Please check the availability for Tatkal Quota prior to booking. No concession or discount is allowed in Tatkal booking. This constraint applies to any type of Sr. citizen concession also. Alteration of ticket in any form is not legally recognized in Tatkal ticket.

Tatkal Cancellation Charges

A flat reimbursement of 25% of total fare charged on ticket, excluding Tatkal Charges is approved on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets that are cancelled up to 24 hrs prior to the scheduled departure of train. No refund granted on confirmed Tatkal tickets when cancelled within 24 hrs or later of the schedule departure of train. For group cancellation & waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be removed as per existing Railway rules and regulations.

How to book Indian Railway Tatkal Tickets Online?

  1. Generate a IRCTC Login account at www.irctc.co.in which is completely free

  2. Login to www.Irctc.in and find “Plan My Travel” section on the Welcome Screen
